Stringing Courses!

6th February 2008

Stringing Course at Heswall Squash Club!

Heswall Squash Club is the venue for a Stringing Course taken by Liam Nolan, Technical Director of UK Racket Stringers Association from Monday 25th February to Tuesday 26th February 2008. Start 9.30am and finish 4.30pm each day

The comprehensive two-day CLUB STRINGER course gives you the basic skills, knowledge and confidence to run a successful Racket Servicing business.

Day one starts off with an introduction to the course content and the equipment that you will be using. We then look at most of the technical aspects of actual stringing. You will tackle a variety of two-piece and one-piece stringing patterns, including the UKRSA Round-The-World pattern as used at major tournaments. By the end of day one, you will have managed to string perhaps three or four rackets by yourself, including tennis, squash and badminton.

Day two reviews the work covered on the previous day and then moves on to look at all of the other racket servicing skills that make the difference between a basic stringer and a racket technician who can cater for all servicing needs. You will be taken through many accessory skills such as gripping, grommet fitting, stencilling, tubing repairs, handle resizing, basic balancing, string and racket technologies and on to how to market your new skills and run a successful business. The machine that you learn on is usually available for purchase so you can take it away with you. You can bring along your own rackets if you wish. There is no one big test. Instead all course members are continually assessed and supported.

Certification is awarded at the end of the course to recognise that you have achieved the required level of skills. Should you not manage to achieve this level on this occasion, then you will be invited back for another course completely free of charge. You will also be given a CD of the course contents for later reference.
