Cumbrian village side Nunwick CC have gained ECB Clubmark accreditation in recognition of the excellent work carried out by the club’s coaches and volunteers.
They are only the second club in Eden to do so and one of the first in the county to achieve this recognition under the new rules.
Nunwick have also been successful in gaining grant funding to provide an all-weather wicket, coach education cases and a club website - currently under development - to improve communication in the rural area.
The club have also received equipment from the Lord Taverners' and Barclays Spaces for Sport.
The website grant was secured from Voluntary Action Cumbria through their DEFRA programme of "Rural Social & Community Programme".
The site is being developed by local company Appropriate Solutions. The other grants came from Eden District Council, Eden neighbourhood Forum and Cumbria Community Foundation.
Nunwick enjoyed a successful 2007 season as the first XI were crowned champions of EVCL Division One, thus gaining promotion to the EVCL Premiership, while the second XI consolidated their position.
Both teams enjoyed an influx of junior players after graduating from the junior section where the teams continue to hold their own.
The current season starts with junior coaching sessions which get under way on Tuesday 15 April. Anyone requiring further information should email admin@nunwickcc.co.uk.
