Hockey Coaching Camps at Sedburgh School

6th May 2008

Summer hockey coaching camps are being run at SedberghSchool, for hockey players aged 11-16 years. Each camp lasts four days and will be run by Head Coach Matt Taylor of the England (15 caps) and Cannock Hockey Club.

Matt and the team of coaches will work with the players in small groups, teaching advanced stickwork skills with modern techniques from around the world, and use small sided games for skill development. With specific positional clinics, penalty corner skills sessions for attack and defence, and a specialist goal scoring clinic, the camp covers all aspects of the game. The evening programme of activities will include a session on aiming to become an elite player, alongside a programme of social activities.

Alongside the July camp, a unique residential specialist training camp for goalkeepers will be run, with Head Coach Andy Gooderham (England A, England U21 and Cannock Hockey Club). This camp will include the development of modern techniques, with kicking, diving and hand and stick work, positioning and specialist techniques for penalty corners and strokes.

These four day residential courses are designed for boys and girls of a good standard of school or club hockey. Those attending the goalkeepers camp should have experience at playing goalkeeper. The fully inclusive cost is £289, and places can be secured by sending a £50 deposit with a completed booking form.

Course dates are 28-31 July (hockey and goalkeeping) and 18-21 August (hockey).
