As part of celebrations for “Raising the Olympic Flag” when the Beijing Olympics come to a close, Eden District Council are organising a Leisure Triathlon on Sunday 24th August in conjunction with Arragon’s Triathlon Club as the main event of the Raising the Flag event at Penrith Leisure Centre.
The Triathlon will be a 400m swim in the centre’s pool, a 25km cycle loop out of the town on open roads and a 5km run on school fields adjacent to the centre.
There is allocation for every level of participant in what promises to be a fun event, in beautiful surroundings. The council are hoping to encourage those who haven’t tried a Triathlon to get involved as well as seasoned triathletes.
Come and give it your best shot, it doesn’t matter if it takes you 24 minutes or 24 hours it’s all about having a bit of fun and raising money for the designated charity for the event – Eden Valley Hospice near Carlisle.
Or if you don’t think you’d enjoy it all on your own, why not get a couple of mates from your department and share the workload as part of a team by doing one part of the event each – there’s prizes for the best team!
Sunday 24th August, 11.00am at Penrith Leisure Centre.
Entry forms are attached below and also available from Mansion House, Town Hall, Penrith Leisure Centre and Arragons Cycles.
