Earlier this year, the BHF launched the 30 a day campaign to encourage older adults to get active to safeguard their heart health.
Research shows that people over the age of 50 are at much greater risk from heart disease, but only around 30% of 50-54 year olds are meeting the government's recommended minimum amount of exercise of 30 minutes of moderate activity 5 times a week.
As part of the 30 a Day campaign, the BHF National Centre for Physical Activity and Health at Loughborough University has created an online resource to help all those involved in developing physical activity programmes for older people of all ages and abilities. The Active for later life Toolkit is designed to be used by a wide range of national and local agencies and it can be accessed for FREE. Also available to order from the BHF publication site are A4 versions of the 30 a Day poster campaign and The BHF Fit for Life booklet. Just search under "30 a Day" to access all the campaign materials For access to the website please click here.
