Cumbria 2012

2012

"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not the winning but taking part; the essential thing in life is not conquering but fighting well" - Pierre Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic Games.

In 2012, London will host the Olympic Games for the third time. It will also mark the return of the Paralympic Games to the country of their birth. Our four-year Cultural Olympiad will reach a crescendo with the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony on 27 July. It starts a 60-day festival of sport and culture across the UK.
