Newlands Adventure Centre
Newlands Adventure Centre near Keswick has loads of activities running throughout the summer.
Climb & abseil: a visit to either a local crag or keswick climbing wall where you will be introduced to the basic skills enabling you to reach the top of climbs which become increasingly harder. Once at the top you abseil down.
High ropes course: a challenging course set in the trees at nearby goosewell farm. Attached by a harness to a safety wire you will face a number of physical and mental challenges culminating in the high speed ‘zip wire’.
Mountain bike: explore the lakeland fells on two wheels. After an introduction to riding techniques you will be led on a route suited to your groups abilities.
Kayaking: single seat boats with a double ended paddle. After some instruction in basic paddle strokes you head out to explore derwentwater maybe visiting an island or two.
Canoeing: the same itinerary as the kayaks but this time in two or three seat boats with a single ended paddle.
The woods: a series of physical and mental challenges set in the centre’s woodland; go on a blindfolded bear hunt, get to the top of the lumber ladder, solve the monkey puzzle and can you ring the alarm bell at the top of the crow’s nest?
Archery: an introduction to this ancient art. can you hit a bulls eye?
Orienteering: starting with an introduction to map work, you will soon be finding your way round the local area looking for hidden points.
Initiative exercises: a number of challenges, which will test you either mentally or physically.
Mountain walking: a half or full day exploring the surrounding fells. Led by an instructor on a route to suit your groups abilities and the weather.
Ghyll scramble: a wet decent of a mountain stream, down waterfalls and through plunge pools all under the supervision of an instructor.
All activities are £20.00 per session and are for a 3 hour, 1/2 day session.
All specialised equipment and qualified tuition are included. (AALA approved).
Participants must be 8 years and over.
